We align with those places that make yoga accessible and affordable, while ensuring that student's are offered the best possible opportunities to live along the yogic path and reap the benefits of a mindFULL lifestyle.
We've created the perfect way to allow those with the resources available to help others who truly NEED yoga in their life. We only better our world by doing (and sharing) more yoga!
Yoga Recovery Pittsburgh has been committed to making yoga inclusive and accessible to those who seek a more mindFULL way of living. The nonprofit organization has been housed at Yoga Factory since 2022, and hosts its ongoing donation-based classes there twice every month. The purpose of the Save the Humans Scholarship Fund is to utilize the power of community to assist those who are experiencing financial challenges and allow them to continue their yoga education and ongoing yoga practice at all Yoga Factory and Yoga Hive schools.
It’s been the Yoga Factory tagline for many years: “Save the Humans.” While this was a play on the ‘Save the Whales’ campaign from decades past, truly, we have seen yoga heal many people over the years: from injury, to chronic pain, to relationship turmoil, life drama… yoga can save us a lot of stress if we choose the lifestyle. So let’s harness the community’s naturally uplifting energy and allow those in financial crisis the chance to
embody that life, too!
Yoga Factory and Yoga Hive have readily provided tuition assistance to many students who initiate cancellation of their memberships due to cost, so as to continue to make yoga accessible, especially in stressful times when yoga is needed most.
Given the state of the world at present, when we are witnessing these situations at an all time high, we have developed a support model so we can continue to keep membership fees reasonable, while also honoring the fact that the financial commitment required for some is more than they currently have available.

Based on a review of our brief application, Yoga Recovery Pittsburgh board and staff will review and assess scholarship needs, and offer the following types of assistance to apply to the unlimited membership options available at Yoga Factory and Yoga Hive schools.
Short-term assistance may include: temporary unemployment, high-cost medical circumstances,
and life transitions (adjusting finances due to a required move, newborn child,
caretaker responsibilities, etc.). These typically last 3 months and offer a 30%
reduction in current membership fees.
Long-term assistance is reserved for those in need of yoga in their lives, but based on limited or fixed income, cannot afford the cost of a full unlimited membership.
These are offered in 12-month increments at 40-60% off the normal cost.
These scholarships are offered to local certified yoga teachers as well as to those who prefer a deeper work/trade learning commitment to subsidize those interested in the Yoga Factory and Yoga Hive's trade program.*
This assistance helps continue to support the cost of training, managing, and supplying yoga professionals and aspiring teachers-to-be with the tools and leadership they need to thrive, build lasting connections, and learn more deeply about the yogic path.
*Secondary application is required for this program. Visit here for information.
In conjunction with those who receive ongoing energy work or yoga therapy/ mental health treatment through Yoga Recovery Pittsburgh and/or Yoga Therapy Pittsburgh, free introductory memberships are sometimes offered to those with a combination of significant mental health and/or trauma/addiction recovery, as well as financial challenges. Memberships are offered with the caveat that yoga is incorporated into their assigned treatment plan, and community support is deemed important to developing their autonomy and well-being. These sponsorships are
intentionally anonymous.

Based on categories above; this will not include the need to provide personal financial statements, but will require a personal attestation and short essay demonstrating need.

This is for the person who already has a connection to yoga, and has shown a consistent effort to make it a bigger part of their lives (preferably has practiced 2-3x/week for at least 90 days).

Ensure you're ready to commit to practicing consistently upon receiving assistance (2-3x/week or more). This is intended to assist ready to embrace yoga as a lifestyle! Showing up is the only way.

While we recognize some scholarships will be long-term, if you are applying for partial or short-term assistance, be prepared to stay commited on your own once assistance has concluded or is exhausted.
All of the above components should be included with your application, so prepare ahead!
Scholarships may be renewed under the conditions that 1) financial need persists, 2) adequate notice for requested renewal be offered (30 days minimum), 3) no applicable payments lapse during scholarship period, 4) there is demonstrated long-term commitment to being part of the community.
