Business Coaching for Therapists Building Private Practice

Building your own practice should not have to be a struggle! As a therapist who has spent nearly 20 years in both small business and nonprofit management, and who currently operates multiple small businesses in both categories, I’m happy to help you navigate the confusion and frustration of incorporation for a fraction of the cost you would pay for similar business consultation services.

I have incorporated multiple businesses over the last 10+ years, both for-profit and nonprofit. I will help you navigate the process of federal and state recognition (Pennsylvania only), build your articles of incorporation, business operating agreements (where appropriate), prepare preliminary 1099 and/or employee contracts, discuss nuances of forms and waiver terms, and prepare nonprofit board terms and agreements.

I can also set up initial payroll tax accounts, as well as your Quickbooks Online chart of accounts and integrated online banking, payroll/ direct deposit accounts, and help with expense categorization. While hiring a certified public accountant is essential to ongoing financial management and honoring appropriate checks and balances for your business, I will eliminate the stress of start up so you’re primed for ease and success going forward.

As someone who values communication, authenticity, and transparency in the workplace, I can also provide consultation on how to build your therapy team, leverage individual skill sets to support the mission of you practice, and set realistic expectations for your practice growth.  

I have a Masters of Arts in Nonprofit Management. I have served on nonprofit boards, managed a board, and built my own board for Yoga Recovery Pittsburgh. I have taught two business courses in higher education as well as developed programming for several arts organizations. I have handled the incorporation process for organizations in Maryland and Pennsylvania over the course of nearly 20 years managing small businesses. I have provided one-on-one consultation on budgeting, marketing, logistics, and strategic planning. I currently own two yoga schools with a staff of 15 and am also very well versed in workplace dynamics and how to build an empowered team.

I am not a certified accountant or a lawyer, but I have not required either for the start up of any business I’ve managed. I have re-instated businesses that were lost, started some from scratch, and transitioned ownership. Every situation is unique and my goal is to break down yours in a practical way. If I believe your situation is beyond my scope of practice I will immediately tell you that. My goal is to make the idea of building your practice exciting and rewarding, not more stressful!
 

As is the case for all of my services, I am private pay, sliding scale with a portion of what you pay directly contributing to the nonprofit so I can continue to offer discounted and free options to those in need. Since each project will be unique to your business, we’ll begin with a one-time $50 investment which includes any preliminary email exchange as well as a 30 minute call to discuss a full plan for your soon-to-be business.

I will gladly offer one email exchange for free. Additional consultation, any sample documents, or work on your business documents will be subject to a fee.
